Pian Vane
Pian is een avontuurlijke jazzpianist, componist en muziekdocent wiens werk genregrenzen overstijgt, door jazz te mengen met R&B, pop, klassiek en oosterse folkinvloeden. Haar muziek vertelt verhalen en drukt emoties en levenservaringen uit met filmische composities, sterke melodieën, diepe groove en authenticiteit. Ze haalt inspiratie uit Brad Mehldau, Hiromi Uehara, Aaron Parks, Oscar Peterson en John Scofield.
In 2011 won ze de Golden Award op het Singapore International Culture and Art Festival en begon ze haar Classical Piano Performance & Art Management-studies aan het XingHai Conservatory of Music. Datzelfde jaar trad ze op in het 大人 concert met popmuzikant Pam Chuang. Haar passie voor jazz werd in 2013 aangewakkerd na het bijwonen van een concert van John Scofield, wat haar ertoe bracht de overstap te maken van klassiek naar jazz aan het Conservatorium van Maastricht onder begeleiding van Frank Giebels.
In 2019 richtte ze Micro Oxygen op, een origineel jazzkwartet dat heeft opgetreden op Jazzout Limburg (naast Cory Wong en Gallowstreet), Chique Festival, Jazz Shanghai, Les Temps Mêlés en als aftershow voor het trio van Enrico Pieranunzi. Ze is ook lid van Wednesday's Pins and Needles, dat in 2024 samenwerkte met Wim van Egmond om livemuziek te improviseren voor de film Fungal Landscapes, die in première ging op IMC12 in Maastricht.
Als docent geeft ze sinds 2022 les in jazzpiano aan UWC Maastricht en in 2025 is ze bij SCHUNCK begonnen als pianodocente. Terwijl ze actief optreedt en componeert, volgt ze een master in gespecialiseerde compositie en uitvoering aan het Conservatorium Maastricht, waar ze studeert bij Jesse Passenier, Wolfgang Braun en Aaron Parks.
Momenteel ontwikkelt Pian The Dream Dealer, een meeslepende jazz- en live-schildervoorstelling die dromen, herinneringen en verbinding onderzoekt. Ze werkt ook als sessiepianist bij Alessa Knur, balletpianiste bij ADE Company en is sinds 2024 koorleider en dirigent van
popkoor Ut Koer in Heerlen.

Pian Vane
is an adventurous jazz pianist, composer and music educator whose work transcends genre boundaries, blending jazz with R&B, pop, classical and Oriental folk influences. Her music tells stories, expressing emotions and life experiences with cinematic compositions, strong melodies, deep groove and authenticity. She draws inspiration from Brad Mehldau, Hiromi Uehara, Aaron Parks, Oscar Peterson and John Scofield.
In 2011, she won the Golden Award at the Singapore International Culture and Art Festival and began her Classical Piano Performance & Art Management studies at XingHai Conservatory of Music. That same year, she performed in the 大人 concert with pop musician Pam Chuang. Her passion for jazz was sparked in 2013 after attending a John Scofield concert, leading her to transition from classical to jazz at Maastricht Conservatorium under the mentorship of Frank Giebels.
In 2019, she founded Micro Oxygen, an original jazz quartet that has performed at Jazzout Limburg (alongside Cory Wong and Gallowstreet), Chique Festival, Jazz Shanghai, Les Temps Mêlés, and as an aftershow for Enrico Pieranunzi’s trio. She is also a member of Wednesday’s Pins and Needles, which collaborated with Wim van Egmond in 2024 to improvise live music for the film Fungal Landscapes, which premiered at IMC12 in Maastricht.
As an educator, she has taught jazz piano at UWC Maastricht since 2022 and joined SCHUNCK as a piano teacher in 2025. While actively performing and composing, she is pursuing a master’s in specialized composition and performance at Conservatorium Maastricht, studying with Jesse Passenier, Wolfgang Braun and Aaron Parks.
Currently, Pian is developing The Dream Dealer, an immersive jazz and live painting performance exploring dreams, memories, and connection. She also works as a session pianist with Alessa Knur, a ballet pianist at ADE Company, and has been the choir leader and conductor of the popchoir
Ut Koer at Heerlen since 2024.
